Director Statement

Bound" a dramatic short film examines racism, colorism, and the unexpected impacts/trials of interracial relationships. Writing and filming "Bound" was an interesting journey because I felt the film might upset some people due to their own participation in one or more of the films main themes of racism, colorism, and complicity.

Deep discussion and truthful introspection, especially on the topic of colorism, is often avoided by using a simple word as depicted in the film. But the truth behind the noise and the use of that word can only be uncovered by digging deep within ourselves and examining the root of colorism; depicting it for what it is.

“Bound” seeks to provoke constructive dialog to increase understanding, awareness, and, more importantly, reconciliation with the truth.
